Released first in Japan (their promised land) and many months after in United States, “Brethren…” is an amazing concept album for the American primitive tribes, their wars against the European colonialists and a great perspective about the Indian way of thinking.
Besides this, “Brethren…” was a joking resemblance of the band’s status in the music industry… As Indians in a European world… Worthless to say that this album had the same luck with all the previous and next lps of the band, lacking any kind of professional promoting and commercial success.
Furthermore and contrary to other Riot’s albums that have won a respectable legacy throughout the years, “Brethren” remains almost completely unknown. Just like its Indian heroes.

The lp that ended all lps. Nothing after this would be the same again…
The biggest benchmark of industrial music, “Kεφαλή ΞΘ” paved new roads in all extreme sounds, from death metal to electro.
Furthermore, it was the prophecy of the post cold war era. An incensed scream against the modern human nothingness and insensitivity and a despondent and eerie call to arms of our brainwashed minds!

Igneous, explosive and reactive but still sensitive and finally introvert, a mad rocket flying to its own fiery galaxies, “Powertrip” wasn’t only another masterpiece from the heavy-psych giants, but also their commercial breakthrough.

PS: One of the albums that makes you realize that you’ve become old…(Two decades have already passed..!!!)

Who’s gonna teach you how to dance,
who’s gonna show you how to fly…

Riot – Thundersteel (1988)

09. Buried Alive (Tell Tale Heart) – 08:55 – LMU – !!!!

Seeking a major commercial success, Riot make a U-turn from bluesy/hard rock influences to a straight power metal sound. Though Thundersteel never gave them the status they’d deserved, it is widely venerated as one of the best power/speed metal stuff that has ever recorded… No power metal band before or after has managed to reach such an excellence in terms of fury and passion.
Their shift from a great hard rock band to a sensational power metal stunner is among the most remarkable moments of US metal scene of the 80s.

The last lp of the mighty thrashing powerhouse Grip Inc. still stands as one of the landmarks of groove metal, packed with touching themes, full of inspirational lyrics, a sense of folk due to the presence of latin style percussion and cello and -of course- the band’s indicative grooving thrash guitars.

Outlaw – 06:00 [Nightbreaker, 1993]

A heavy metal masterpiece, probably one of the first “speed metal” albums ever heard… Riot would never had the success they deserved, mostly due to their wrong choices inside the sick and unbearable world of music industry…
Nowadays this stuff may be classified as “hard rock”, but in 1981 it was considered as an utterly extreme sound…
